There's a reason we refer to "leaps of faith" - because the decision to consent to any notion of divinity is a mighty jump from the rational over to the unknowable, and I don't care how diligently scholars of every religion will try to sit you down with their stacks of books and prove to you through scripture that their faith is indeed rational; it isn't. If faith were rational, it wouldn't be - by definition - faith. Faith is belief in what you cannot see or prove or touch. Faith is walking face-first and full-speed into the dark. If we truly knew all the answers in advance as to the meaning of life and the nature of God and the destiny of our souls, our belief would not be a leap of faith and it would not be a courageous act of humanity; it would just be.. a prudent insurance policy. About This Quote

It is not logical to act upon the act of faith because one would be acting on something that is not proven. If one acts on faith, they are acting on something which is unknown and can be proved wrong. Acting on faith will make you vulnerable to all kinds of risks. For example, if you are an investor who believes in investing in stocks, however you are very innovative person, you might make a decision to invest in the stock of a company without even understanding about the company. The stock of this company might take a drastic fall shortly after you buy it. The only thing that you will take home from this deal is that you have lost money because of your decision to invest in this company. On the other hand, if you are an investor who has done his research before investing in any company, your chances of loss will be much less than someone who has made a decision to invest blindly without doing any research. If you believe in God based on stories written by the holy books, however, if one day there is no heaven or hell or any kind of afterlife, what will you do? Will you stand up and say that your belief was misguided? Or will you say that just because you did not see it does not mean there is no God? Will being wrong about God change how you feel about him?
